June 7,2000 <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> RESOLUTION—SNOHOMISH COUNTY <br /> Moved by Councilmember Anderson,seconded by Counoimember Simpson <br /> to adopt Resolution No.0913 supporting certain of the Snohomish County <br /> Executive's recommendations to the Snohomish County Council regarding <br /> Snohomish County's governmental functions and operations being retained <br /> and expanded In downtown Everett as follows: <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Everett and Snohomish County have a long history of <br /> inking together on issues of common interest to achieve results that are in the <br /> interests of our citizens;and <br /> WHEREAS,as a result of a series of meetings,an understanding has been <br /> reached between Se City and County Administrations which is reflected in this <br /> Resolution;and <br /> WHEREAS,Snohomish County is currently considering a number of solutions <br /> fis icatm <br /> identified need for additional general office,pre-adjudication jail and cra <br /> Rides;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Everett City Council has previously expressed its comm that <br /> Evere0 already hosts more than is fair share of the County's correctional <br /> facilities:and <br /> WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Council have and contimie to support the <br /> County's expansion of its downtown Everett civic complex to meet the County's <br /> pressing space needs and to maintain downtown Everett as the County seat of <br /> government;and <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Everett and Snohomish County acknowledge the <br /> uisteace of land use regulatory processes that matt be followed in order for the <br /> County to expand is downtown Everett civic complex and Snohomish County is <br /> ware that,at this time,the City Council can not make binding commitments <br /> which might prejudice the land use process;and <br /> 236 <br />
