She requested that there be more dialogue before the money is <br /> accepted for the California Overcfossing project. <br /> Clara Emery,5919 Beverly Lace,stated that she opposes any further action <br /> regarding the California Overccossing. <br /> Muhelle Prochaska,3124 Grad Avenue,voiced opposition to bringing more <br /> truck traffic to the downtown arm citing safety esmajor concern. She <br /> questioned why West Marine View Drive can't be used? <br /> Councilmember Pope left the Council Chambers. <br /> Pore Robison,1631 Cedar Street,shared the concern of others that spoke and <br /> stated that the Overcrnssiag would destroy the charm of the downtown area. <br /> John Mohr,Executive Director of Pon of Everett,stated that there were <br /> assertions regarding the amount of ruck traffic that will increase as a result of <br /> the California Overcrossiog. According to a study done by Peneet Engineers <br /> there are 13,000 vehicles per day on Everett Avenue and 15,000 vehicles per <br /> day on Pacific Avenue.Trucks represent 12%of the daily oaffic on these two <br /> sweets,the rest is commuter and commercial wffic. The Pon related freight <br /> via the proposed California Overcrosaiag is only a minor pan c'the overall <br /> height business. las that 10%of the height(400 ruck trips per day)is <br /> destined for the public and private waterfront facilities so the end of California <br /> Strep. 1t is not expected that volume will change with the California <br /> Overcrossing.The reason for moving forward with this project is to improve <br /> the safety to the waterfront aad make it more accessible.There have been five <br /> rain deaths(pedestrian)this year.All three of the crosniogs discussed were at <br /> grade crossings. They are not designed for pedestrian traffic. A greatly <br /> improved facility has been proposed as a coordinated ellen to provide additional <br /> access to the waterfront.California Street is the only access that doesn't have <br />
