July 11,2001 <br /> Roll was called with all councih bas voting yes except Councihnember Pope <br /> who was excused. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING—VACATION/SOUND AVENUE <br /> President Simpson opened a public hearing regarding the proposed vacation of a <br /> portion of Sound Avenue,north of Shore Avenue. <br /> President Simpson invited public comment. <br /> Lon Mayberry,Real Property,stated that staff recommends approval of the <br /> ordinance vacating Sound Avenue subject to(t)the payment of an independent <br /> appraisal fee;(2)payment of one half(1/2)of the appraised value;and(3)that an <br /> easement be retained forfuture utilities and providing view corridor. <br /> Brad Catlin 2207 Colby Avenue,spoke on behalf ofthe abutting property owners, <br /> Peter and Carol Cattle and Carol Pierce-Rlein.He stated that they support the <br /> staff recommendations,but requested that if the City plans to Main a view <br /> corridor,the property eraOae s a:ieting stmetures and vegetation be ge edfathered, <br /> so they don't have H be removed. <br /> Moved by Covaeilmember Anderson,second.by Couneilmeeeber Warnock <br /> to close the public hearing. <br /> Rall was called with all eouncilmembers voting yes except Councilmember Pope <br /> Who was recused <br /> Motion carried. <br /> VACATION—SOUND AVENUE <br /> Moved by Coaocilmember Warnock,seconded by Couneilmember Gipson to <br /> approve the vacation of a portion of Sound Avenue and direet staff to draft <br />
