March 27.2002 <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING—STREET CONVERSION <br /> President Anderson opened a public hearing regarding Council Bill No. <br /> 02-01-03,a proposed ordinance providing for the conversion of Hoyt <br /> Avenue(19.to 32n°Street),Wetmore Avenue(1B.M 375 Street),and <br /> California Street(Rucker to Rockefeller)from one-way to two-way sheets. <br /> President Anderson invited public comment. <br /> Wayne Wentz,City Traffic Engineer,and Michael Sbingham,Pedeet <br /> Engineering,gave a brief presentation regarding the project background, <br /> schedules, design alternatives, public involvement, benefits and <br /> challenges,and budget. <br /> Maureen Moore,2404 Hoyt On,expressed concem at the lack of <br /> notification regarding the proposed street conversions and requested that <br /> the Council delay action to allow further citizen Input. <br /> The following individuals spoke in support of the proposed ordinance. <br /> They stated that it would make traffic patterns less confusing and help <br /> revitalize downtown Everett: Jim Kellett,Edward Jonee Office.2722 <br /> Colby,Dick Bennett,Downtown Everett Acton Committee,2707 Colby <br /> WOO:and Sighed Martinis,2811 Rockefeller. <br /> The following individuals spoke in opposition to the proposed ordinance. <br /> They expressed concern regarding safety issues related to left turns and <br /> the loss of parking spaces: Kal Leichtman,3410 Colby#8;AI Furiak, <br /> 6312 Cypress;and Ruby Firmore. <br /> Moved by Council Member Pope,seconded try Council Member <br /> Olson to close the public hearing. <br /> 93 <br /> i _ <br />
