1 <br /> July 24,2002 <br /> COUNCIL BILL NO.02-06-36 <br /> THIRD AND FINAL READING: <br /> AN ORDINANCE concerning alcohol at the City's golf courses, <br /> amending Section 21 of Ordinance No.3471 as amended by <br /> Ordinance No.80-70(EMC 9.06.200)and authorizing the City <br /> Attomey's Office to prepare an amendment for the GRI-City <br /> contract increasing the City's percentage share of revenues <br /> from beverage cad alcohol sales from 35%to 45%and <br /> authorizing the Mayor to sign the amendment. <br /> Susan Francisco,Parks,stated that the Parks Commission recently voted <br /> unanimously to bring this proposed ordinance back to the City Council for <br /> their consideration. She discussed various es to be considered <br /> regarding the dispensing of alcohol on golf course grounds. <br /> Brace Christie.Golf Resources Inc.,stated that a survey taken at the <br /> Waller E.Hall and Legion Golf Courses indicated that approximately 68 <br /> percent of golfers wanted alcohol to be served on the golf course grounds. <br /> He remarked that all of GRI's restaurant and beverage cart staff have <br /> gone through the Liquor Control Board's alcohol permit process. <br /> Ron Hagen.Golf Resources Inc..remarked that GRI is responsible for all <br /> liability involved in serving alcohol at the golf courses. <br /> Stuart Nicol,1907 100•Street SW,spoke in favor of alcohol being sold <br /> on the golf course grounds so golfers won't be faced to sneak X in. <br /> Moved by Council Member Pope.seconded by Council Member Olson <br /> that this is declared to be the third and final reading of Council Bill No.02- <br /> 0636. <br /> Moved by Council Member Olson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Overstreet to emend the motion to treat this as an Interim ordinance <br /> and to have GRI report back to the City staff and City Council on or <br /> before June 1,2003 regarding their experiences dispensing alcohol <br /> on the golf courses. <br /> 242 <br />
