March 24,2004 <br /> The City Council meeting recessed for an executive session regarding a <br /> Gigaton matter and reconvened. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Olson reported on his attendance at the National League ' <br /> of Cities Conference In Washington,D.C. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> City Attomey Iles requested an executive session regarding a real estate <br /> manor. <br /> CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> Or.Kim Borgatte,Starbright Early Learning Center,607 SE Everett Mall <br /> Way#13;Bonnie Jones,611 103'5 Place Se;Sarah Olsen,12305 53. <br /> Avenue SE;Renee Lee,15115 465 Avenue NE;And David Robinson, <br /> 500 SE Everett Mall Way spoke in opposition to the location of Taboo <br /> Video,en adult video store.They expressed their concern regarding its <br /> proximity to daycare facilities,churches,and schools and requested that <br /> the zoning code be changed to restrict the distance between this type of <br /> business and sensitive use areas. <br /> City Attorney Iles explained that adult retail businesses are treated the <br /> same a any other retail business under the City of Everett's Zoning <br /> Code. <br /> Gerry Burke,Police,stated that there have been no secondary impacts <br /> from adult retail businesses located in other areas of the City of Everett. <br /> Further discussion ensued regarding the Issue. <br /> Moved by Council Member Olson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Gipson to direct staff to prepare an ordinance placing a six-month <br /> moratorium on the location of adult retail facilities within 1000 feet of <br /> a church,business,daycare or any other sensitive use areae. <br /> 9 <br />
