October27,2004 <br /> neighborhood will serve as an attractive gateway to our <br /> community. <br /> •We settled a long-standing legal challenge over the <br /> construction of access improvements to our tvedront <br /> properties.This resolution enabled us to proceed with the <br /> construction of the 41e Street overorossing—a vital key to <br /> economic and recreational development along our.rivedront. <br /> •Our neighborhood organtrations are engaging in a variety of <br /> improvement pn,;ects suppoded by neighborhood grant <br /> money. <br /> •We continued ourcommitment of funding human needs, <br /> and we have eleteits impodance in my administration by <br /> moving oversight of the grant program to the Mayor's office. <br /> •We celebrated the fort anniversary of the opening of the <br /> Everett Events Center and the Silvedips'championship <br /> inaugural season. Outing its first year of operations,the <br /> Events Center has proven to be a valuable public amenity <br /> that is bringing new energy to Everett's downtown. <br /> •We,with the support of others,secured an expedited <br /> construction schedule of the I-5 HOV lane project. The <br /> City's efforts over the past several years have helped to <br /> make this project a state priority. <br /> •We celebrated Naval Station Everett's le anniversary and <br /> the arrival of the USS Norman. <br /> •And, we continued our City's efforts to improve our <br /> relationships with neighboring governments and <br /> organbalions,working together to find common ground for <br /> the betterment of our residents and the region as a whole. <br /> These highlights represent just a few of the good things that have taken <br /> place In our city over the past year.Everett is clearly making progress, <br /> which we continue to support through our 2005 budget. <br /> 337 <br />
