August 24,2005 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 <br /> am.,August 24,2005 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> Hall,President Krell presiding. Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson and Council Members Krell, Haw, Gipson, Nielsen, <br /> Stonecipher,and Overstreet were present. Council Member Olson was <br /> excused. <br /> Deb Williams,City Council Administrator Coordinator,led the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the August 17,2005 City Council meeting were approved <br /> as pdnted.Council Member Stonecipher abstained from the vote. <br /> MAYOR <br /> PROCLAMATION—COMCAST <br /> Mayor Stephenson read a proclamation recognizing Comcast for its <br /> significant contributions to the City of Everett and the greater community <br /> through its support of the Parks'Comcast Waterfront Concert Series. <br /> Mayor Stephenson presented the proclamation to Comcast employees <br /> John Dietrich,Area Senior Executive;Janet Tureen,Vice President <br /> Franchising/Government Affairs;and Brine Kuybus,Field Marketing. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Nielsen stated that he attended"Fresh Paint"at the <br /> waterfront this past weekend and congratulated all those involved in a <br /> successful event. <br /> Council Member Overstreet commented on Mayor Btephanson's <br /> involvement as a member of the task force to study a four-year university <br /> in this area.He remarked that five of his grandchildren will be receiving <br /> awards from the Mayor tomorrow night at the Summer Reading Awards <br /> Ceremony. <br /> 271 <br />
