October4,2006 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 <br /> a.m.,October 4,2006 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> Hall,President Stonecipher presiding. Upon roll call it was found that <br /> Mayor Stephenson and Council Members Roberts,Olson,Hatloe,Gipson, <br /> Nielsen,Stonecipher and Overstreet were present. <br /> Council Member Overstreet led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the July 27,2006 Everett C8y Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed.Council Member Olson abstained from the vote. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephenson announced that on October 12°at 7:15 p.m.the <br /> Monte Cristo Awards will be presented at the Everett Performing Ms <br /> Center.He urged all to attend. <br /> REPORT <br /> Teresa Cox,Everett Domestic Violence Prosecutor,gave an overview of <br /> the ciys domestic violence prosecution program.She indicated that the <br /> prosecutor's office remains as dedicated as ever to prosecuting domestic <br /> violence crimes and meeting the needs of victims.Over 600 cases have <br /> successfully been prosecuted so far this year. The conviction rate <br /> increased over 21%last year due in part to Everett Police Department <br /> investigations. The city's program is also about victims and the city <br /> participates in several programs which help victims.A pilot program,the <br /> Domestic Violence Victim Impact Panel,was started last year as <br /> educational class for batterers.October is Domestic Violence Awareness <br /> Month. Teresa extended en invitation to attend a Victim Impact Panel <br /> She thanked the mayor and city council for their continued <br /> support. <br /> APPOINTMENTS—ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY BOARD <br /> Mayor Stephenson requested the city council's concurrence regarding the <br /> appointments of Doug Kimball and Lisa J.Thompson to the Animal <br /> Control Advisory Board. <br />
