October 17,2007 <br /> Tim Gould,Volunteer Chair,Transportation Committee for the Sierra <br /> Club/Cascade Chapter,spoke regarding the need to reduce green house <br /> gases.He stated that in the Puget Sound area over one half of the green <br /> house gases come front the transportation sector.He remarked that this <br /> proposal adds additional lane miles which will fill up with additional <br /> vehicles which will offset whatever benefits that transit might produce. <br /> President Stonecipher invited public comment. <br /> Natasha Jaksich,Marketing end Communications Manager,Everett <br /> Chamber of Commerce, 2000 Hewitt Avenue, and Bob Zapon, <br /> Secretary/Treasurer,Carpenter's Union,2810 Lombard,spoke in support <br /> of the roads and transit measure. <br /> Howie Bargreen,2821 Rucker,spoke in opposition to the proposed <br /> resolution. <br /> Moved by Council Member Nielsen,seconded by Council Member <br /> Overstreet to close the public hearing. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> RESOLUTION—SUPPORT OF ROADS AND TRANSIT MEASURE <br /> Moved by Council Member Krell,seconded by Council Member <br /> Overstreet to adopt Resolution No.5952 of the City of Everett in <br /> support of the"Roads and Transit"measure on the November,2000 <br /> ballot. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion serried. <br /> 343 <br />
