October 31,2007 Public Safety •Additional resources for the Police Department to expedite the hiring process to maintain continuity in services and increase the existing force to keep pace with our growing population. •Funding to purchase land for the replacement of Fire Station 3. Parks.Recreation.and Cultun •Park renovation and construction projects are in progress or planned at Sliver Lake,the Everett Performing Arts Plaza,Lion's Park,Wiggum's Hollow Skate Park and Grand Avenue Park. These projects,together with recently completed projects at Rotary Centennial Water Playground,Kiwanis Park,Garfield Park,Langus Park and Northwest Park,will enrich our community's recreational opportunities for years to come.And, our work continues to realize the recommendations made in our parks Strategic Plan. •Expanded ferry service to Jetty Island from five to Mx days per week adding a total of nine days to the season. Transportation Improvements We have traditionally taken a proactive approach to maintain and improve our transportation system.In 2007,we have projected to spend about $26 million on local roads and transit projects.We will continue this trend in 2008 and expect to complete the following: •Street Improvements to the intersection of Broadway and Beverly Boulevard,the intersection at Casino Road and 51°Avenue W.,the continuation of our street overlay program,and signal improvements along Merrill Creek Parkway,Broadway and Everett Avenue. •Pedestrian and bike lane Improvements to Holly Drive,7.Avenue SE,Corbin Drive and W.Marine View Dove. •Everett Transit's College Station. We will also purchase three hybrid bores and implement Everett Transit route enhancements—all of which will help people move about the city more efficiently and with less impact on our environment.Other projects 358
