March 5,2D08 <br /> COUNCIL BILL NO.080308 <br /> FIRST AND SECOND READINGS: <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No.2881-07 and 3040-07 <br /> entitled 'Everett Animal Shelter", Fund 342, Program 011, <br /> authorizing the design and construction of a new animal shelter <br /> EXECUTIVE SFSSION <br /> The city cou ndl meeting recessed for an executive session and <br /> reconvened. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENT-CITY ATTORNEY POSITION <br /> Mayor Stephenson explained that he is asking for an interim action from <br /> the city council today as next Tuesday,March 11".will be City Attorney <br /> Ned Johnston's last day with a couple of weeks vacation following prior to <br /> his retirement. Interviews have been conducted during the lest three <br /> months for this position. <br /> Moved by Council Member Olson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Hatloe that per Section 6.4 of the Charter to employ the law firm of <br /> Anderson Hunter as special counsel to perform on an interim basis <br /> the duties of the City Attorney until such time as the City appoints a <br /> City Attorney pursuant to Section 6.1 of the Charter. The <br /> employment of the firm of Anderson Hunter will become effective as <br /> of March 12,2008. In the event a conflict arises with the firm of <br /> Anderson Hunter during this Interim period,the Mayor and Council <br /> President ate hereby authorized to jointly employ such counsel they <br /> deem appropriate to represent the City's interest <br /> Council members thanked City Attorney Johnston for his dedication and <br /> service to the city. <br /> 66 <br />
