May 14,2008 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 <br /> a.m.,May 14,2008,in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall, <br /> President Nielsen presiding. Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson and Council Members Halloe,Gipson,Nielsen,Stonecipher <br /> and Afirotter were present Council Member Roberts and Olson were <br /> excused. <br /> Council Member Gipson led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the May 7,2008 City Council meeting were approved as <br /> printed. <br /> MAYOR <br /> PROCLAMATION—TOASTMASTERS WEEK <br /> Mayor Stephenson proclaimed May 12.18,2008,as Toastmasters Weak. <br /> my Albert accepted the pmdamatbn on behalf of Everett Area <br /> aasimasters and thanked the mayor and council members. <br /> PROCLAMATION—BIKE TO SCHOOL AND WORK DAY <br /> Council Member Nielsen read a proclamation proclaiming May 18,2008, <br /> as Bike to School end Work Day. It was accepted by Carolyn Hope,a <br /> volunteer on the Bike to Work and School Day Committee,who <br /> commuted 21 miles to work today.She thanked the mayor and council <br /> members for their enthusiasm about the day. <br /> WORKSHOP—DOWNTOWN PARKING MANAGEMENT STUDY <br /> Ryan Sass,Traffic Engineer,explained that work on a downtown parking <br /> management plan started in October of last year.He acknowledged Sue <br /> Strickland,Downtown Everett Association,for her help in the process.He <br /> introduced consultants,Clark Worth,Bamey end Worth;and <br /> d Rick <br /> Williams,Rick Williams Consulting;who have been workingon the <br /> Downtown Parking Management Study.They presented qualitative and <br /> quantitative findings.
