July 2,2008 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 <br /> m..July 2,2008,in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall, <br /> President Nielsen presiding. Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson and Council Members Roberts,Olson,Nielsen,Stonecipher <br /> and Afiholter were present. Council Members Hatloe and Gipson were <br /> excused. <br /> Council Member Olson led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the June 25,2008 City Council meeting were approved as <br /> printed. <br /> MAYOR <br /> APPOINTMENT—PUBLIC FACILITIES DISTRICT BOARD <br /> Mooed by Council Member Olson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Stonecipher to concur with the reappointment of Thomas Gaffney to <br /> Position No.2,Public Facilities District Board,for a fouryear term <br /> beginning January 1,2008 and ending December 31,2011. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes except Council <br /> Members Hadoe and Gipson who were excused. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> GAS TAX UPDATF <br /> Janet Love,Budget Manager,gave a brief gas tax update.She stated <br /> that the Washington State gas tax increased yesterday to$.375 per <br /> gallon. Of that$.375 cities receive three cents per gallon which is <br /> distributed based on population.The City of Everett receives$2.5 million <br /> in gas tax which goes into the General Fund.Two-thirds of that amount <br /> goes to the Street Department for operations and Maintenance end one- <br /> third goes to the Street Improvement Fund for capital projects and <br /> matching funds for grants.She remarked that as of the end of June,the <br /> 199 <br />
