January 7,2009 <br /> Council Member Stonecipher expressed that most people have day jobs <br /> and the limitation it puts on council member candidates. <br /> Council Member Aflholter expressed that the question of having night <br /> meeting is important and because of its importance needs to examined <br /> first. <br /> Moved by Council Member Afiholter,seconded by Council Member <br /> Gipson to table the motion. <br /> Roll was cased with all council members voting yes except Council <br /> Members Stonecipher.Roberts,Nielsen,and Olson whc voted no. <br /> Motion failed. <br /> Council Member Gipson asked fore legal opinion. <br /> Jim Iles,City Attorney,questioned whether we have established the night <br /> meeting by virtue of a resolution or ordinance. He stated there are two <br /> options: 1)to go forward subject to review by the legal department to <br /> determine if this can done by resolution or 2)to postpone it and allow the <br /> research to be done and come back with a legal opinion.It is clear that it <br /> can be done,the question is the mechanism to be used. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes except council <br /> Members Gipson,Aflholter and Magee who voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> CONSENT ITEMS <br /> Moved by Council Member Gipson,seconded by Council Member <br /> Affholter to approve the following consent items: <br /> 5 <br />
