February 2,2011 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 630 <br /> p.m.,February 2,2011 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> Hall,President Affhoker presiding.Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson and Council Members Roberts,Moore,Hato,Nielsen, <br /> Stonecipher and Affholter were present Council Member Gipson was <br /> excused. <br /> Council Member Roberts led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the January 26,2011 Everett City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephenson stated that earlier this week he sent a letter to Dave <br /> Faddis,Kimberly Clark,pledging his support to find a buyer that protects <br /> the 842 jobs and the families it supports in our community.He stated that <br /> derogatory comments made regarding Kimberly Clark and its employees <br /> are not helpful to our job retention efforts. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Stonecipher stated that while discussing the economic <br /> development plan et last week's council meeting,she made comments <br /> indicating that the city needs to look forward long term,look to long term <br /> strategy and where the growth end jobs are going to be in the future.She <br /> remarked that she did not mean to imply that the city should give up these <br /> Kimberly Clark jobs easily. <br /> Council Member Roberts stated that he attended the Snohomish County <br /> Tomorrow meeting last week where they discussed long term <br /> transportation plans for the community. He also reported on his <br /> attendance at McKinstry Industries regarding sustainability. <br /> • <br /> 29 <br />
