April 20,2011 <br /> COLLECTION SUSPENDED—PEG FEES <br /> Moved by Council Member Moore,seconded by Council Member <br /> Gipson to authorize the Mayor, pursuant to the franchise <br /> agreements,to suspend collection of the PEG fee from Comcast and <br /> Frontier. <br /> CM Bryant,Administration stated,in response to a question from Council <br /> Member Stonecipher,that Frontier and Comcast had no interest in <br /> rebating PEG hinds previously collected from its customers. <br /> Council Member Nielsen stated that a provision of the Comcast <br /> agreement and relative ordinance says that the city council is authorized <br /> to adjust or waive the PEG fee.He requested clarification as to whether <br /> tonight's action,authoring the Mayor to suspend collection of the PEG <br /> fee,is the technically correct action.City Attorney Iles stated that it is. <br /> Council Member Moore remarked on the Inequity of PEG fees. <br /> Moved by Council Member Roberts,seconded by Council Member <br /> Stonecipher to table the discussion to suspend or change the tees <br /> until a policy regarding costs is developed. <br /> Considerable discuseon ensued. <br /> Roll was called on the motion to table with all council members voting yes <br /> except Council Members Moore,Hallos and Gipson who voted no and <br /> Council Member Molter who was excused <br /> Motion failed. <br /> Annie Lyman,Everett,stated that public access is crucial and that the <br /> $12.00 per year PEG fee is nota burden. <br />• <br /> • <br /> 1 <br /> t <br />
