• <br /> \ 4, <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3924. <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Section 1.28.020, Everett City <br /> Code, providing for extra pay on certain designated holidays for <br /> firemen and policemen, and providing said ordinance shall be <br /> effective from and after January 1, 1962. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commissioners, at the time of the <br /> making of the budget for the year 1962, provided for the payment <br /> of holiday pay for firemen and policemen as hereinafter set forth <br /> in this ordinance but inadvertently failed to provide for the <br /> amendment of the above entitled section, and declaring an <br /> Iemergency to exist. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 1.28.020, City Code of the <br /> 1 City of Everett is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "1.28.020 Firemen and policemen - - Holidays . For the <br /> purpose of this section holidays shall be considered as those <br /> kj days hereinafter set forth and designated by specific calendar <br /> days: <br /> New Years Day, January 1 <br /> Lincoln's Birthday, February 12 <br /> George Washington's Birthday, February 22 <br /> Memorial Day, May 30 <br /> July 4 <br /> Labor Day, First Monday in September <br /> Columbus Day, October 12 <br /> Veterans Day, November 11 <br /> Thanksgiving, Fourth Thursday in November <br /> } <br /> Christmas Day, December 25 <br /> Any fireman, except the Chief of the Fire Department, <br /> == who shall commence or end his regular shift of work on any of <br /> the holidays hereinafter designated shall be entitled to pay, in <br /> addition to his regular monthly pay, for each eight hours of work <br /> performed during said day, a sum equal to one twenty-first of his <br /> monthly salary. <br /> Any policeman, except the Chief of the Police Department, <br /> who shall commence his regular shift of work on a legal holiday <br /> hereinabove designated and shall complete his eight hours of <br /> work, whether on said day or on the fdlowing day, shall be en- <br /> titled, in addition to his monthly pay, to a sum equal to one <br /> twenty-first of his monthly salary. <br /> Any policeman commencing his regular shift on a day <br /> other than a legal holiday and finishing his shift on a holiday <br /> shall receive no additional compensation. " <br /> Section 2: This ordinance shall be effective from and <br /> after the 1st day of January, 1962, to comply with the provisions <br /> of the budget adopted for the year 1962 . <br />
