government or public services.This term does not include correctional facilities, utility facilities,equipment storage <br /> or parking,schools,fire stations,community centers, parks,or other public or quasi-public service uses specifically <br /> listed in this title. <br /> "Government"use means offices or facilities for federal,state,county,city or other governmental,public utility, <br /> school district,or quasi-public agencies where staff of such agencies are employed in the administration of <br /> government or public services.This term does not include correctional facilities, utility facilities,schools, parks,or <br /> other public or quasi-public service uses specifically listed in this title. <br /> "Hazardous waste" means all dangerous and extremely hazardous waste as defined in RCW 70.105.010(15), <br /> except for moderate risk waste as set forth in RCW 70.105.010(17). <br /> "Hazardous waste storage"means the holding of hazardous waste for a temporary period,as regulated by the <br /> state dangerous waste regulations, Chapter 173-303 WAC. <br /> "Hazardous waste treatment" means the physical,chemical or biological processing of hazardous waste for the <br /> purpose of rendering these wastes for material resource recovery,amenable for storage,or reduced in volume, as <br /> regulated by the state dangerous waste regulations,Chapter 173-303 WAC. <br /> "Hazardous waste treatment and storage facility,off-site" means treatment and storage facilities which treat and <br /> store hazardous wastes generated on properties other than those on which the off-site facilities are located. <br /> "Hazardous waste treatment and storage facility,on-site"means treatment and storage facilities which treat and <br /> store hazardous wastes generated on the same property. <br /> "Hospital"means an institution that provides twenty-four-hour-per-day care for the diagnosis,treatment,care <br /> and curing of individuals suffering from illness,injury or any condition requiring medical,obstetric,surgical,or <br /> psychiatric care;and other related uses customarily incidental thereto. <br /> "Institution of higher education" means public or private vocational and trade schools,academies,colleges,and <br /> universities,including classrooms,administrative offices,cafeteria,athletic facilities,dormitories, and off-street <br /> parking areas. <br /> "Light rail station"means a dedicated public facility providing access to light rail trains and consisting of an <br /> elevated platform with waiting areas,ticket vending machines and pedestrian facilities providing connections to <br /> bus transit and the local community. <br /> "Park"means any property designated,dedicated,or developed by or on behalf of a government entity for park or <br /> open space use,including passive and active forms of recreation. <br /> "Place of worship"or"religious facility" means a place for people to gather for religious practice. Examples <br /> include churches,synagogues and mosques and accessory uses including bible study schools and day care. <br /> School" means a public or private facility that provides teaching or learning.Typical uses include elementary,junior <br /> and senior high schools and related uses,except as otherwise specifically defined in this code."School"does not <br /> include a childcare facility,preschool, day care,or an institution of higher education as defined in this chapter. <br /> "Solid waste transfer station"means a solid waste handling facility where nonhazardous solid waste is delivered <br /> by public agencies,businesses or individuals and transferred and/or sorted into other containers to be transported <br /> to another location for ultimate disposal.A solid waste transfer station may include provisions for extraction of <br /> recyclable or reusable materials,as well as collection facilities for recyclable materials. <br /> "Transit facilities"means public or private improvements at selected points along existing or future transit routes <br /> for passenger pick-up,drop off and waiting.
