EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7583 <br /> A RESOLUTION of the City of Everett setting a public hearing before the City Council <br /> December 16,2020 at 6:30pm to receive comments on the City's intent to extend the <br /> term, modify the special assessment levy and boundaries,and set a five-year budget <br /> of the Downtown Business Improvement Area <br /> WHEREAS, <br /> 1. The City, after a public hearing, adopted Ordinance No. 3582-17 establishing the current <br /> Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA);and <br /> 2. The businesses and property owners within the BIA have indicated that they value the BIA's use <br /> of special assessment revenues to fund programs and services, such as maintenance and <br /> economic development; and <br /> 3. These businesses and property owners wish to increase the special assessment levy rate due to <br /> inflation, wish to continue to fund the programs and services described in Ordinance 3582-17, <br /> and wish to add one block to the boundary of the BIA;and <br /> 4. The City is willing to initiate and declare its intention to extend the term of the BIA for five <br /> additional years, increase the special assessment levy, expand the boundary of the BIA, and <br /> authorize a five-year budget for the existing BIA; and <br /> 5. The City will hold a public hearing to receive comments on the same. <br /> 6. The Council is resetting the public hearing previously scheduled for December 9,2020 at 6:30pm <br /> by Resolution No.7582, to the new public hearing date of December 16,2020 at 6:30pm. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND EVERETT CITY COUNCIL THAT: <br /> Section 1:This is a resetting of the public hearing originally scheduled for December 9, 2020 by <br /> Resolution No. 7582,which is hereby canceled.The City Council will instead hold a public hearing on the <br /> 16th day of December,2020,at 6:30 p.m.,or as soon thereafter as possible, in the City Council <br /> Chambers,3002 Wetmore Avenue, in Everett,Washington,to consider a five year extension of the <br /> existing BIA, increased special assessment levy, expansion of the BIA boundary, and to consider approval <br /> of a five-year budget for the existing BIA, as more fully specified below. <br />
