CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> points can be installed along the proposed trench line alignment to remove perched <br /> water zones prior to excavation. <br /> Before dewatering operations begin, the Contractor shall have available on the <br /> Work site sufficient pumping equipment, or other machinery, or both, to assure <br /> maintaining continuous operation of the trench dewatering system. Supply power <br /> service to dewatering pumps including, but not limited to, electrical, hydraulic, gas, <br /> or diesel, Maintain the dewatering system to allow for continuous operation without <br /> interruptions. If necessary, provide 24-hour supervision and follow-up by personnel <br /> skilled in the operation, maintenance, and replacement of dewatering system <br /> components. Damage to Work in place and the excavation, including damage to <br /> the trench bottom, due to "boiling", material removal, or discharge pumping from the <br /> excavated area, that may result from negligence, inadequate or improper <br /> installation, maintenance and operation of the dewatering system, or mechanical or <br /> electrical failure of the dewatering system shall be Contractor's responsibility to <br /> repair at no cost to the City. <br /> Trench dewatering shall be included with the Work required for Storm Drain Pipe, <br /> Manholes, Inlets, Storm Drain, Catch Basins, Utility Restoration or other excavation <br /> activity performed as part of this Contract with no direct compensation made. <br /> 7-08.3(2)A Survey Line and Grade <br /> Delete both paragraphs of 7-08.3(2)A and substitute the following: <br /> Provide surveys required to construct the sewer line including, but not limited <br /> to, alignment stakes, offset stakes, grade hubs, and intermediate staking. Use <br /> main survey control points shown on the Plans, unless Engineer directs <br /> otherwise. If a Bid item for "Surveying" is not listed in the Proposal, then this <br /> item shall be included with the Work with no direct compensation made. <br /> Provide laser control equipment approved by the Engineer for setting pipe <br /> grades. <br /> 7-08.3(2)1 Side Sewer Connections <br /> Supplement 7-08.3(2)1 by adding the following: <br /> Make typical side sewer connections in accordance with COE Standard <br /> Drawing No. 602. <br /> 7-08.3(2)J Pipe Separation Pads <br /> Where vertical clearance between a proposed pipe and any other underground <br /> utility is 2 to 6 inches a pipe separation pad is required. The pad shall be 2 feet x <br /> 2 feet x 2 inches minimum and placed between the pipes. The pad shall be <br /> polyethylene (Dow Plastics Ethafoam 220) or approved equal. <br /> Pipe separation pads shall be included with the Work required for Storm Drain pipe, <br /> performed as part of this Contract with no direct compensation made. <br /> 7-08.3(3) Backfilling <br /> Delete the first paragraph of 7-08.3(3) and substitute the following: <br /> Perform trench backfilling only after inspection and approval of the installed pipe <br /> bedding zone backfill. Refer to COE Standard Drawing No. 614, 615 and the Plans <br /> for typical trench section backfill and compaction requirements. <br /> If the Engineer determines native material is not suitable for use as trench backfill, <br /> use "Gravel Borrow" conforming to 9-03.14(1) of the Standard Specifications. <br /> If there is an excess of suitable backfill material obtained from trench excavation at <br /> one location on the project, use it at other locations on the project or dispose of at <br /> Jackson Park Area Stormwater Separation September 2020 <br /> WO No. -UP3703 Division 7—STORM, SEWER, WATER <br /> SP—163 <br />
