Through a
competitive grant application and screening process, Cultural Arts Commissioners make
awards based upon criteria such as non-profit status, Everett -based priority and outreach
to underserved youth and community. For 2021 only, neighborhood groups supporting
the arts during COVID were also welcomed to apply for grants. These awards enable
artists and organizations to develop, produce and exhibit quality artwork and programs.
They also increase exposure of the arts to the general public and strengthen partnerships
with the artistic community. It is recommended that the arts organizations identified on
the attachment receive grant funding to support their programming projects. 2021
Programming Grant Awards total $40,000.
In addition, the Cultural Arts Commission is recommending one Capital Grant be
awarded from Fund 112 to support technology upgrades to the recipient. This 2021
Capital Grant award totals $5,000 bringing the grant allocations to a total of $45,000.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Concur with the recommendation of the Cultural Arts Commission and approve the 2021
Cultural Arts Capital and Programming Grant Awards as designated, in an amount not to
exceed $45,000.
