Geotechnical Engineering Report- Revised lierracon
Proposed CFT Retail Everett,Washington
February 1, 2018 Terracon Project No. 81185002
3.2 Typical Profile
Based on the results of the test pits and borings, subsurface conditions on the project site can be
generalized as follows:
Approximate Depth to Consistency/
Stratum Bottom of Stratum Material Description
(feet) Density
1 1 '/2 to 3 inches Asphalt -
2 1 to 7 Fill of primarily silty sand with variable silt Loose to Medium
and gravel content(FILL) Dense
3 6'/z to 12'/z Silty sand with variable silt and gravel Medium Dense to
content (Weathered Glacial Till) Dense
4 Undertermined' Silty sand with variable silt and gravel Very Dense
content (Glacial Till)
1. Deeper borings were terminated within this stratum.
Stratums 1 through 4 were characterized by observations from soil borings. Specific conditions
encountered at each boring location are indicated on the individual boring logs. Stratification
boundaries on the boring logs represent the approximate location of changes in soil types; in-situ,
the transition between materials may be gradual. Details for each of the borings can be found on
the boring logs included in Appendix A of this report.
Laboratory tests were conducted on selected soil samples which targeted characterization of
Stratums 2, 3, and 4. The test results are presented in Appendix B. Laboratory test results of
these selected samples indicate that the fines content (percent by weight of material passing the
#200 sieve) ranged from about 20 to 34 percent.
3.3 Groundwater
The soil borings were observed during advancement for the presence and level of groundwater.
We observed evidence of groundwater within one (1)of the 8 borings. The source of groundwater
is relatively deep, existing within the unweathered glacial till unit of boring B-7. A summary of the
observed groundwater depth within the soil boring are provided below:
Approximate Water Level
Date of Reading Depth (feet)
B-7
1/10/18 15 (Elev. 547.0)
Responsive Resourceful Reliable 3
