The disrassion includes information on the following
subjects:
► Ecplorations and Theu I.ocation
► The Use of Auger Boring
► Standard Penetratiqn Test (SP'1 Procdures
. Explorations and Their Lacation
Subsurface explorations for this project include dn7ling 5ve borings.
The exploration log within this appendix show our interpretation of the
cinlling (or excavation), sampling, and testing data. They indicate the
depth where the soi7s cbange. Note that the change may be gaduaL In
• the fieid, we classified the samples taken from the explorations
according to the methods presented on Figure A-1 - Key to Fxploration
L,o.s. This figure also provides a ]egend explaining the symbols and
abbreviations used m the ]ogs.
Location o[Ezplorarions. Figure 2 shows the ]ocation of explorations,
located by hand taping or pacing from existing physical features. The
ground siuface elevations at these locations were interpreted from
elevabons of existing monitoring wells across the site. The method ued
determines the accuracy of the ]ocation and elevation of the
explorations.
7Tu Use af Auger Borin
With depths ranng from 43 to 43.5 feet below the ground surface, frve
hollow-stem auger borings, desigiated HC-1 throueh HC-5, were drilled
from October ?2, 1992 to October 26, 1992. The borines used a 3'/e-
inch inside diameter hilow-stem auger and were advanced with a truck-
mounted drill rig subcontracted by Hart Crowser. The drIlling was
continuously observed by an engineering geologist from Hart Crowser.
DetaHed fizld logs were prepared of each boring.
