ORDINANCE NO. 3798-21 <br /> An Ordinance Requiring the Finance Director to Notify City Council of any <br /> Report to the State Auditor's Office Concerning Loss of Funds, Adding a <br /> New Chapter to Title 3 of the Everett Municipal Code. <br /> WHEREAS, State law, RCW 43.09.185, requires local governments to report to the state <br /> auditor's office known or suspected loss of public funds or assets or other illegal activity; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,the state auditor's office recommends such loss or activity also be reported to other <br /> individuals or entities, including the local governing body, depending on the circumstances;and <br /> WHEREAS, Council wishes to eliminate any ambiguity in reporting obligations by establishing a <br /> requirement that any known or suspected loss of public funds or assets or other illegal activity <br /> that is reported to the state auditor's office also be reported to City Council; <br /> NOW,THEREFOR,THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. Findings adopted <br /> The findings set forth in the above recitals are hereby adopted and incorporated by <br /> reference. <br /> Section 2. Finance Director to Notify Council of Report to State Auditor. <br /> The Finance Director shall promptly notify City Council of any known or suspected loss <br /> of public funds or assets or other illegal activity that is reported to the state auditor's <br /> office pursuant to RCW 43.09.185. <br /> Section 3. Corrections <br /> The City Clerk and the codifiers of this Ordinance are authorized to make necessary <br /> corrections to this Ordinance including, but not limited to, the correction of <br /> scrivener's/clerical errors, references, Ordinance numbering, section/subsection <br /> numbers and any references thereto. <br /> Section 4. Codification <br /> Section 2 of this Ordinance shall be codified in a new chapter in Title 3 of the Everett <br /> Municipal Code entitled "Finance Director to Notify Council of Re o State Auditor." <br /> Cassie Fra , or <br /> 1 <br />
