These
two grants fund the entire purchase with no match required from the City.
The initial purchase expense is funded through Fund 425 and will subsequently be
reimbursed from the grants. The price of the buses and chargers are exempt from sales
tax.
The final price of the nine buses, three chargers, and six charging pads is $9,280.212.
Minor modifications may be made during the manufacturing of the buses. There are
limited bus options available through the Virginia contract; therefore, the authorization
to purchase the buses is time -sensitive.
Project summary statement:
Everett Transit needs nine fully electric fixed -route transit buses, which include six 40'
and three 35' buses. These buses are replacement vehicles. The new zero -emission
buses will replace nine fixed -route transit diesel buses and will reduce the diesel engine
emissions emitted into the atmosphere by Transit services. The buses and charging
equipment will be sales tax exempt per WA RCW 82.04.4496 and RCW 82.12.020.
The buses and charging equipment will be purchased through a Commonwealth of
Virginia contract #2712/ EVT #2020-090, which allows for purchases from competitively
awarded contracts in lieu of soliciting bids on our own.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Award and authorize purchase of nine battery electric fixed route transit buses and
charging equipment from Gillig LLC using the Commonwealth of Virginia contract #2712/
EVT #2020-090 for a total of $9,280,212.
