EVERETT <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7634 WASHINGTON <br /> A RESOLUTION Amending Council District 1 to Include the Unincorporated Portion of Smith <br /> Island Located Within the City of Everett Municipal Urban Growth Area,Amending Resolution <br /> No. 7575 <br /> WHEREAS, <br /> A. On October 19, 2020, a Districting Commission adopted a Districting Plan known as Map A-9 <br /> (majority vote)to be brought forward to the City Council for final approval; and <br /> B. On October 28, 2020 the Everett City Council, pursuant to Section 2.1 (c) of the city charter, <br /> adopted the Districting Plan approved on October 19, 2020 by the Districting Commission;and <br /> C. Annexation of the unincorporated portion of Smith Island within the established City of Everett <br /> Municipal Urban Growth Area is now under consideration; and <br /> D. The proposed annexation area does not include any residential uses and is designated Industrial <br /> in the Comprehensive Plan thereby prohibiting residential use; and <br /> E. The proposed annexation area is 857.9 acres and is adjacent to Council District 1; and <br /> F. Consistent with the City Charter, Section 2.1.E (e), the proposed annexation area must be <br /> allocated into the nearest Council district prior to approval of the annexation and addition of <br /> territory to the city. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND EVERETT CITY COUNCIL THAT: <br /> 1. The City Adopt a Resolution, pursuant to Section 2.1 (c) of the city charter,to amend the <br /> Districting Plan to expand Council District 1 northward to include the remaining portion (857.9 <br /> acres) of unincorporated Smith Island within the City of Everett Municipal Urban Growth Area as <br /> shown in Exhibit 1. <br /> v v <br /> ouncilmember introducing resolution <br /> P and approved t 's 21th day of April 2021. <br /> ren Stonecipher, o ncil President <br />
