Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation
Evergreen Way Burger King Restaurant Development
8525 Evergreen Way
Everett, Washington
INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of our geotechnical engineering investigation and evaluation of the
proposed Evergreen Way Burger King Restaurant Development project in Everett, Washington. The
project site is located at 8525 Evergreen Way, as shown on the Vicinity Map in Figure 1. The parcel
number for the property is 28041300103900. For our use in preparing this report, we were provided with
a site plan titled "Burger King Restaurant," dated June 23, 2015 and prepared by 2812 Architecture,
showing the existing and proposed conditions throughout the site.
The property is relatively level and is currently occupied by an abandoned, single-story restaurant
structure, with the remaining portion generally being covered with asphalt pavement. Project plans
consist of removing the existing site structure and constructing a new restaurant structure with a slab-on-
grade within the north-central portion of the property, along with associated underground utilities and
paved parking throughout the property. Final grading or drainage plans had not been developed at the
time this report was prepared. The existing site features are shown on the Site Plan in Figure 2.
SCOPE
The purpose of this study is to explore and characterize the site surface and subsurface conditions, and
provide general recommendations for site development. Specifically, our scope of services included the
following:
1. A review of available soil and geologic maps of the area.
2. Explored the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions within the site with three, up to
20-foot deep drilled borings using a truck-mounted drill rig. Drill rig was subcontracted
by NGA.
3. Performing laboratory analyses on selected samples, as needed.
4. Providing preliminary recommendations for earthwork, including cuts and fills.
5. Providing recommendations for temporary and permanent slopes.
6. Providing recommendations for foundation support, slab on grade, and pavement
subgrades.
7. Providing recommendations for retaining walls,as needed.
8. Providing preliminary recommendations for site drainage and erosion control.
9. Documenting the results of our findings, conclusions, and recommendations in a written
geotechnical report.
NELSON GEOTECHNICAL ASSOCIATES, INC.
