5. The following are follow-up questions regarding the moment frames proposed: <br /> a. It appears that a yield strength of 36 ksi steel is being used on the project for the <br /> HSS sections. Typical HSS sections are fabricated with a yield strength of 46 ksi. <br /> Please confirm if the intent is to use 36 ksi steel for the HSS moment frames. <br /> b. The beam callouts appear to be conflicting with each other on A1/S3.0, Bl/S3.0 and <br /> 5/S3.0. Please clarify which beam callout is to be used in the frame's construction <br /> and revise drawings accordingly. <br /> c. Reviewing the FR connection provided, please clarify using AISC 341-10, which of <br /> the three options is being used to design the FR connections. It currently is unclear <br /> how the details in Al and B1 on S3.0 work together with the updated connections <br /> provided on S4.0. <br /> 6. After reviewing the response calculations, it still is unclear which values are being used to <br /> the design against the uplift in the footing as the values in the hand calculations conflict <br /> with the values obtained from the RISA models. Please clarify and provide supporting <br /> documentation justifying the use of values indicated in the hand calculation. It appears <br /> that the steel moment frame beams are conflicting with the glu-lam beams indicated on <br /> Sheet 2.1 of the architectural drawings. Please clarify beam locations. <br /> 7. On Detail F of Sheet 7 of the architectural drawings, please provide a design calculation for <br /> the guardrail connections to the new deck in accordance with IBC 2015 Sec 1607. <br /> If you have any questions, please email or call me at (425) 257-7287.
