Riverview Carriage Houses C & D I WSEC Air Barrier Testing Report
E l L \' E
Executive Summary
The following table lists completed air barrier compliance results of C & D Carriage houses air leakage tests at
the Riverview Apartments project in Everett, WA.
The 2015 Residential WSEC requires testing "ACH50": Air Changes per Hour at 50 Pascals (Pa). The 2015
Residential WSEC state in section R402.4.1.2: "Testing shall be conducted with a blower door at the pressure of
0.2 inches w.g. (50 Pascals)." Air Leakage is not to exceed 5 air changes per hour at an induced positive test
pressure differential of 50 Pa. The Air Leakage rate cannot exceed 3 air changes per hour for the enhanced
standard.
Calculations for ACH are as follows: a calibrated blower door pressurizes the residential space targeting a stable
differential pressure(dP)of 50 Pascals relative to atmospheric pressure.Once the dP has stabilized, the relevant
airflow (measured in CFM) is averages for a minimum of 10 seconds. The averages airflow is extrapolated to
cubic feet per hour (scaled by 60 minutes/hour) and divided by the conditioned space's volume (in cubic feet)
to yield ACH.
R402.4.1.2 Testing. The building or dwelling unit shall be tested and verified as having an air leakage rate not
exceeding 5 air changes per hour.Testing shall be conducted with a blower door at a pressure of 0.2 inches w.g.
(50 Pascals). Where required by the code official, testing shall be conducted by an approved third party. A
written report of the results of the test shall be signed by the party conducting the test and provided to the code
official. Testing shall be performed at any time after creation of all penetrations of the building thermal
envelope. Once visual inspection has confirmed sealing (see Table R402.4.1.1), operable windows and doors
manufactured by small business shall be permitted to be sealed off at the frame prior to the test.
2 I 4
