AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 1.16.150 and 1.24.130, City Code of the City of Everett, providing for the position of Day Laborer in the Fire Department and fixing the compensation for Day Laborer, and declaring an emergency to exist . NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That Section 1 .16.150 is hereby amended to read as follows: "1.16.150 Department of Safety - Fire Department . There shall be the followhg named officers and assistants in the Fire Department, to-wit: One Chief; one Deputy Chief; two Battalion Chiefs; one Superintendent of Communications Department; one Assistant Superintendent of Communications Department; two Technicians; one Fire Marshal; one Assistant Fire Marshal; one Master Mechanic; sixteen Captains, one of whom shall be assigned as Inspector; one Captain Drillmaster; one Chief Fire Alarm Operator; three Fire Alarm Operators; thirty-nine Fifth Year Pipemen; one Fourth Year Pipemen; one Third Year Pipemen; two Second Year Pipemen; one Secretary; and one or more Day Laborers . It shall be the duty of such officers and assistants in said department to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment, and such other duties as the Chief of the Fire Department or Commissioner of Safety may authorize and direct. It shall also be the duty of every Fire Department employee of any rank to operate the signal room as directed by the Chief of the Fire Department or Commissioner of Safety. (1.16.150) .
