the roadway pavement section. Additional City of Everett requirements for structural fill,
placement of fill, and compaction within their right-of-way for roads and utilities should also be
reviewed and included in the report as needed.
RESPONSE TO REVIEW COMMENT 19
We agree that the upper 2 feet of structural fill beneath buildings and roadways should be
compacted to 95 percent of the material's maximum dry density(according to ASTM D 1557).
These recommendations will be included in our comprehensive geotechnical report for the
project.
REVIEW COMMENT 20
Page 7 states that piezometers are not necessary; however, we recommend that additional
settlement monitoring be conducted along the east side of the site along the river bank so that
the stability of the bank is not impacted, unless this has been evaluated. The stability of the river
bank with respect to the planned improvements should be evaluated with respect to static and
seismic loading conditions.
RESPONSE TO REVIEW COMMENT 20
Our comprehensive geotechnical report for the project will include static and seismic stability
evaluations for the edge of the development near the riverbank.
REVIEW COMMENT 21
Little site specific laboratory data was included to support settlement analyses for the site. No
grain size tests were included to support a standard of practice liquefaction evaluation. We
recommend that sufficient laboratory testing, especially grain size distribution tests be
performed to support settlement analyses at the site. Samples should be obtained and tested
throughout the potentially liquefiable zones, as well as in the compressible layers, such that the
settlement evaluations can be supported using site specific information.
RESPONSE TO REVIEW COMMENT 21
Our comprehensive geotechnical report for the project will include laboratory test results that
were obtained from samples collected at the site.
♦ ♦ ♦
G EODESIGN 9 Polygon-128-01:081 1 15
