NAC
ARCHITECTURE
April 17, 2018
Tony Lee
Public Works
City of Everett
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 9820.1
Re: Building Permit Review Letter
North Middle School Modernization
NAC Project #121-16027
Owner: Everett School District
job Address: 2514 Rainier Ave
Plan Check No: Ell 711-002 & 131711-003
Dear Mr. Lee,
g@6 6-
R.
Zvi YOF EVERE T T
Below are the Non -Structural plan review comments from your letter dated January 13, 2018, along with our
responses in bold italic text.
NON STRUCTURAL
Construction
1 For clarity, the title 'stage' should be revised to'platform' as both are code -defined terms. Section 410.
We have changed the name of Room 126, and other references of 'stage" to "platform".
2. It is not clear how the plywood bonded insulation panels within the exterior walls (Sheet A3.00) could
qualify as an exterior wall covering per Definition Section 202. As such, Section 603.1 (item 1.2) would
govern rather than Section 1406.2.1. The result would be the requirement that the plywood be fire -
retardant -treated. Section 602.2. We have corrected our notations to indicate the plywood to be fire
treated.
3. The laboratories/vocational shops identified on Sheets G1.01 and G1.02 (incidental use areas) are
required to have doors that are self- or automatic -closing upon detection of smoke (in accordance
jP with Section 716.5.9.3). Several lab areas have sliding doors that separate the lab from a classroom
that is not designated as an incidental use area. The sliding doors should either be provided with
.zx-.Q- closers or the classrooms on the adjacent side of the sliding doors should also be designated as
incidental use areas. Section 509.4.2. The sliding doors have been replaced with pairs of swinging
`- doors with closers.
60 > 025 First Avenue, Suite 300, Seattle, WA 98121-3131
206 441 4522 / nacarchitecture.com
Seattle / Spokane / Los Angeles
