The cause is due to an undersized section of the
interceptor pipe. The section that is undersized is located on 18th Street from Cedar
Street to the alley east of Chestnut Street. The work will be done in three phases:
1. Phase 1: Planning and Pre -design (This PSA)
2. Phase 2: Final design and engineering services during bidding (Potential future
amendment)
3. Phase 3: Engineering services during construction (Potential future amendment)
The engineering services included in Phase 1 of the professional services agreement
include hydraulic modeling to better delineate the tributary basin to the interceptor,
alternatives analysis, including options for the new pipe alignment and preliminary
design for the new pipe. The scope of work also includes operational strategy analysis
and recommendations for controlling flow to and from the interceptor pipe, taking into
account future conditions and improvement projects.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to Sign a Professional Services Agreement in the amount of
$319,726 with HDR Inc., for engineering planning and pre -design services for the 17th
Street Interceptor upgrades project.
