10'
TO File
FROM Joe Kozlowski C
p XGT1 3
OAT[ February 3, 1976 I
r'-'
FEB 41976
erttavencrWABNINaio
sUaJ«r CASCADE SAVINGS & LOAN-- e. .
DEMOLITION PERMIT CITY OF EVERETT
ngineering Dept.
Meeting was held February 2, 1976 in the Mayor's Conference Room, 2:00 p.m. to
3:00 p.m.
In attendance representing Cascade Savings & Loan were Ben Newland of Newland
Construction, Jack Iverson of ICONCO and from City staff, Jamie Johnson, Ken
Callahan, Fred Oehlert, Dick Goodspeed, Bill Kelley and Joe Kozlovski.
Fred Oehlert had called the meeting to order after a point of confusion that had develop-
ed in the right-of-way use permit requested for Cascade Savings & Loan project. Last
week Mr. Oehlert had processed an application from Ben Newland for the right-of-way
use during demolition -construction. On February 2nd Mr. Iverson requested a right-
of-way use permit separate from that one for the purpose of demolition only and was
h different from the one processed for Mr. Newland.
It was established at the meeting that Mr. Newland wanted the City to process
the request by Mr. Iverson to take care of the demolition only, the attached drawing
\t i1 showing the site and the location of fences. The demolition was to begin Sunday,
February 8th. A 70 ton crane, approximately nine feet wide would be located that
V
Sunday within the curb parking lane and the northerly travelling lane along Hewitt.
Vl The operation of the crane would not project either by the boom or the counterweight
C! into the travelling lane immediately south which would remain open for vehicular
J traffic during demolition. The location of this crane would be for February 8th and for
February 15th only. During the operation of the crane in this position, a uniformed
policeman would be located at the corner of Colby and Hewitt to direct traffic. The
provisions of traffic markers between Colby and Wetmore to accommodate this lane
closure is shown on the accompanying drawing and will be made a part of the permit
issued to Mr. Iverson. Before work begins on February 8th, Newland Construction
Company will be responsible for removal of five existing trees adjacent to the Woolworth
building on Colby and Hewitt Avenue.
Mr. Newland was informed by Dick Goodspeed of the existing buried lead sheath cable
located within the planting area 5-1/2 inches deep which must be protected during the
removal of the trees. It is necessary for Newland Construction to warn the P.U.D. before
work begins on the tree removal and after every day so that P.U.D. may tag the
service to this line. These holes will be filled in so that pedestrians may walk over
the area. The trees will be delivered by Newland Construction to the City Park
Department for storage during the construction period. Arrangements have been made
with Pat Russell (259-8896) to provide a space for the trees during construction.
