Please review and
respond to the comments below.
1. The plans should show that fire -resistive penetrations and joints will require special
inspection. Section 1705.17
2. The plans should note that the means of egress path at Level 2 from the North stair
enclosure to the exterior exit door has equivalent fire -resistive construction of an Exit
Passageway (two-hour partitions and 90-minute openings).
3. The Activity/Dining area is open to the corridor system. As this psychiatric treatment
area is less than 1500 square feet, it falls within the provisions of Section 407.2.3 which
provides for a non -separated use area. Section 407.2
4. It should be confirmed that roller latches are not used on any doors into the corridor.
Section 407.3.1
5. The procedures for egress from this treatment area should be presented to and
approved by the fire marshal's office as part of the emergency planning and
preparedness required by Chapter 4 of the IFC. Section 1010.1.9.6, Exception 1
6. The refuge areas for each smoke compartment should be shown. Calculations should be
provided.
