I am the
planner conducting the Planning intake review for this application; please note the following comments are not a
thorough plan check review and they only address larger zoning compliance points and the submittal checklist.
Additional comments may be provided by the Building intake reviewer for your application; please utilize the Online
Permitting Portal to check on the status of other reviewers.
Your permit application cannot be routed for 1st review and is on hold until the following revisions have been addressed:
1. Please be advised, effective November 24, 2020 this property was rezoned to MU: Mixed Urban and new sign
regulations went into effect. Current sign code requirements are available online,
here: https://everettwa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/26689/Ch-1936-Signs Amending-11-4-20?bidld=
2. This property is located outside Metro Everett so it is subject to Sign Category A requirements. Per footnote 10
of Table 36-2, only 1 backlit cabinet sign may be permitted and the maximum size of a in this area is 6sgft. The
proposed shield logo and drive-thru signs exceed this. Planning Staff cannot approve your sign permit request as
proposed; please review EMC 19.36 and revise your proposal accordingly to demonstrate compliance with the
applicable provisions.
3. The "night time view" only seems to indicate the shield logo as illuminated despite the channel letters being
shown otherwise. Please clarify and revise the plan accordingly.
4. The detail for sign R3 is labeled as "detail of shield logo." Please clarify and revise the plan accordingly.
The sign permit checklist and interim permit intake/resubmittal policy are available via the "website & online resources"
link in my signature. Please submit at minimum 2 copies of any revised documents/plans. If you have any Planning
related questions, please contact me directly via email.
These comments are only related to the land use code and do not account for all possible requirements from other
departments. For general permit questions, please contact Permit Services at everetteps@everettwa.gov or
425.257.8810. In the meantime this permit application is on hold until the requested revisions have been received
demonstrating compliance with the code and submittal checklist.
Thanks,
_ Kelsey Heyd
Associate Planner I Community, Planning & Economic Development
425.257.8731 1 3200 Cedar Street 2"d FI., Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT everettwa.eov I Facebook I Twitter
Please reference our website & online resources for updates to our service.
