0 0
Drew Martin
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Thursday, January 7, 2021 4:28 PM
To: 'sound.services.construction@gmail.com'
Subject: City of Everett Permit Services: 6331 Second Drive SE (132012-038) - Building Intake First
Review
Attachments: City of Everett - Small Home Project Guidelines.pdf, General Code Requirements.docx
Ms. Shelby Ball,
Your application has been received and a permit set up. However, the submitted documents are not sufficient
for us to perform a review at this time. Construction -level drawings need to be submitted for review. Details
provided in calculation output do not satisfy this requirement. Information is attached to provide
guidance. Preliminary comments are provided below to assist in preparing the drawings, but these are not
intended to provide a comprehensive review. Depending on your experience with the model codes and
preparing documents, we recommend consulting with a design professional to assist you.
1. The design is presumed to comply with the IRC. The code should be stated in the drawings.
2. Construction level documents for the proposed work should be provided. The drawings should
include, but are not limited to:
a. Foundation plan.
b. Framing plans.
c. Stair sections and details.
d. Guard details and requirements. Connections should be designed for out -of -plane loading per
the IRC.
e. Handrails
f. Material requirements (wood grades, proprietary hardware, etc.).
g. Fastener requirements. References to code tables is not sufficient.
3. Deterioration -resistant wood material should be specified where required.
4. Provide a landing at the bottom of the stairs.
5. The stairs appear to change direction. An intermediate landing may be required.
6. The upper landing should be connected to the house using a connection complying with the IRC.
Review of your project will be performed in the order received once the required documentation has been
submitted. Please let me know if you have questions.
_ Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer —Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2"d Floor, Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: M/W/Th/F: 7:30am-12:00pm & 1:00pm-3:00pm; Tu: 1:00pm-3:00pm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
COVID-19 Update: Please reference our website & online resources for updates to our service during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
