Conditions of Use <br />Construction projects of any size or type can benefit from having materials on <br />hand. A small commercial development project could have a roll of plastic and <br />some gravel available for immediate protection of bare soil and temporary berm <br />construction. A large earthwork project, such as highway construction, might have <br />several tons of straw, several rolls of plastic, flexible pipe, sandbags, geotextile fab- <br />ric and steel "T" posts. <br />Materials are stockpiled and readily available before any site clearing, grubbing, or <br />earthwork begins. A large contractor or developer could keep a stockpile of mater- <br />ials that are available for use on several projects. <br />If storage space at the project site is at a premium, the contractor could maintain <br />the materials at their office or yard. The office or yard must be less than an hour <br />from the project site. <br />Design and Installation Specifications <br />Depending on project type, size, complexity, and length, materials and quantities will <br />vary. A good minimum list of items that will cover numerous situations includes: <br />Material <br />Clear Plastic, 6 mil <br />Drainpipe, 6 or 8 inch diameter <br />Sandbags, filled <br />Straw Bales for mulching, <br />Quarry Spalls <br />Washed Gravel <br />Geotextile Fabric <br />Catch Basin Inserts <br />Steel "T" Posts <br />Silt fence material <br />Straw Wattles <br />Maintenance Standards <br />All materials with the exception of the quarry spalls, steel "T" posts, and gravel <br />should be kept covered and out of both sun and rain. <br />.
