diovemilina <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 6153 <br /> A RESOLUTION supporting a Library Services and Technology Act <br /> Hard Times Initiative grant application by the Everett Public Library for <br /> the funds to address the need for increased access to employment-related <br /> information,resources, and services. <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Public Library has seen an increase in the number of people <br /> needing online computer access to search for employment that is greater than can be met <br /> with existing staff and resources. <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Public Library seeks to provide the best possible service to its <br /> constituents in this difficult economic time by adding software to assist in creating <br /> resumes, and part-time, grant-funded staff to assist patrons in the use of library computers <br /> for employment purposes. <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Public Library is open 61 hours per week at two locations, and <br /> will be adding sixteen new public computers in 2009 to further the project. <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Everett to insure that its citizens have access to <br /> the resources and assistance they need to help them be productive and economically <br /> secure. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett that the <br /> City of Everett lends its full support and endorsement to the Library's application for <br /> grant funds under the Library Services and Technology Act(LSTA)Hard Times Grant, <br /> and the Mayor is authorized to execute all applications and grant contracts related thereto, <br /> and the execution of the grant itself, if, as, and when awarded. <br /> //iii, <br /> Councilperson Introducing Resolution <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this 10thday of June , 2009. <br /> Council President <br />
