Provide Smoke alarms throughout the entire structure per section R314 IRC.Show location of all
smoke alarms on the floor plans, including the second floor of the upper unit of the proposed
duplex.
Response: my impression is that the upper floors are not subject to the same delineations now
that this is being pursued as one single-family unit. Therefore, plans showing placement of
alarms would not be necessary. Please confirm.
2. Smoke alarms located near cooking appliances shall comply with section R314.3.1 IRC.Show the
requirements of Section R314.3.1 on the plans.
Response:the kitchen has been removed from the proposed basement plans.Subsequently,
there is f 6 longer going tO be a cooking appliance in the basement Any renters will nave access
to the main-floor kitchen. Therefore, there will not be additional smoke alarms beyond the one
shown on the proposed basement plans in the bedroom and at the one between front and rear
family rooms.
3. Provide Carbon Monoxide alarms throughout the entire structure per section R315 IRC. Show
location of all Carbon Monoxide alarms on the floor plans, including the second floor of the
upper unit of the proposed Duplex.
Response:one carbon monoxide alarm is showing on the plans for the proposed basement
between the front and rear family rooms: My understanding is that while I have a carbon
monoxide alarm next to the fireplace on the main floor, that with a single-family unit that floor
is not subject to the fire codes related to duplex and as such doesn't n - F - 1aaleel(i4a4
r_L 1
the plans due to the scope of the project.
