ORDINANCE NO. 23 7 977 <br /> ' <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 1.28.010 and 1 .28.020, City Code <br /> of Everett, and repealing Section 1.28.030, City Code of City of Everett, <br /> providing for compensation for overtime work and work on holidays for cer- <br /> tain City employees. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 1.28.010, City Code of the City of Everett, <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 1.28.010. All male City employees covered by Civil Service, <br /> except Firemen and Policemen, City Hall Janitors, Water Control Station <br /> Operators, Basin Patrolmen when working in water shed, and Head Works Oper- <br /> ators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their department or duly <br /> authorized superior more than eight hours in any one day, or more than 40 <br /> hours in any calendar week, or who shall work any day that is designated as <br /> a legal holiday, in the State of Washington, except Sundays, shall be paid <br /> for such overtime work, or work on such holiday, at an hourly rate based <br /> upon one and one-half times his monthly salary divided by 168, which payment <br /> shall be in addition to his regular monthly payment. <br /> All female City employees covered by civil service, except any <br /> woman in the Police Department holding a position as a Policewoman, who shall <br /> be directed to work by the head of their department or duly authorized super- <br /> visor more than seven hours in any one day, shall be paid for the first hour <br /> of overtime work at an hourly rate based upon one times her monthly salary <br /> divided by 147, which payment shall be in addition to her regular monthly <br /> payment. <br /> All female City employees covered by civil service, except amy <br /> woman in the Police Department holding a position as a Policewoman, who shall <br /> be directed to work by the head of their department more than eight hours in <br /> any one day, or more than 40 hours in any one calendar week, or who shall <br /> work on any day that is designated as a legal holiday in the State of Washing- <br /> ton, except Sunday, shall be paid for such overtime work or work on such holida, <br /> • at ar hourly rate based upon one and one-half times her monthly salary divided <br /> by 168, which payment shall be in addition to her regular monthly payment. <br /> The following Water Department employees, Water Control Station <br /> Operators, Basin Patrolmen while working in the water shed, and Head Works <br /> Operators, who shall be directed to work by the head of their department or <br /> duly authorized supervisor more;-than eight hours in any one day, or more <br /> than 48 hours in any calendar week, or who shall work on any day that is <br /> designated as a legal holiday in the State of Washington, except Sundays, <br /> shall be paid for such overtime work, on such holiday, at an hourly rate <br /> based upon one and one-half times his monthly salary divided by 168, which <br /> payment shall be in addition to his regular monthly payment. <br /> All day laborers who shall be directed by the head of their depart- <br /> ment or duly authorized supervisor to work more than eight hours in any one <br /> day, or more than 40 hours in any calendar week, or on any day that is <br /> designated as a legal holiday in the State of Washington, except Sundays,. <br /> shall be paid for such overtime work, or work on such holidays, at an hourly <br /> rate equal to one and one-half times the .daily wage divided by eight. This <br /> Ordinance shall not apply to heads of departments who are not covered by <br /> Civil Service in connection with their employment." <br />
