The approximate location of the project site can be seen on the Vicinity Map,
Figure 1. This report summarizes our design and recommendations for installation of a
gravity retaining wall system on the property.
Project Description
As currently envisioned, the proposed retaining wall will be constructed utilizing the
UltraBlock® modular block wall system. The proposed retaining wall will be used to
create space for an additional bus parking/drive area located at the southeast corner of
the property. The location of the wall can be seen on the Site Plan, Figure 2. We
understand that this gravity retaining wall will experience relatively heavy traffic
surcharge due to school buses.
The planned retaining wall will extend along a wetlands improvement area south of the
property. Above the retaining wall will be relatively flat parking surface and drive path.
The top of fill elevation for the wall will be approximately the same elevation as the
existing parking lot. The retaining wall is designed to have a maximum exposed wall
height of 6 feet (not including a 1.25 foot UltraBlockO Cap).
General Geologic Conditions
Geologic information for the project site was obtained from the interactive Geologic Map
of Washington State, published by the Washington State Department of Natural
Resources (DNR). According to the referenced map, near surface soils mapped on the
project area consist of Vashon Stade Glacial Till (Qvt). Vashon stade glacial till generally
consists of highly compacted, poorly sorted and unstratified mix of clay, silt, sand,
gravel, cobbles and boulders deposited by glacial ice.
The subsurface soils encountered in our explorations were int t
representative of the mapped Vashon Stade Glacial Till deposits.
OCT 1 6 2DIS U1
CITY OF EVERETT
