THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE THE DISPOSAL AREA BY REMOVING THE EXISTING <br />SOIL COVER TO EXPOSE THE SURFACE OF THE UNDERLYING REFUSE. THE <br />CONTRACTOR MAY STOCKPILE OVERLYING COVER SOILS FOR RE -USE AS LANDFILL <br />SOIL COVER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL LIMIT THE AREA OF EXPOSED DEFUSE TO <br />THAT WHICH WILL BE COMPLETED AND COVERED WITHIN THE WORKING DAY. <br />8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT HAULING EQUIPMENT DOES NOT ALLOW <br />REFUSE OR LEACHATE TO ESCAPING DURING LOADING OR TRANSPORT. <br />9. EXCAVATED REFUSE SHALL BE PLACED IN THE PREPARED DISPOSAL AREA IN <br />MAXIMUM 1-FOOT LIFTS AND COMPACTED WITH A MINIMUM OF 3 PASSES WITH A <br />DOZER. ALL EXPOSED REFUSE SHALL BE COVERED DAILY WITH PLASTIC SHEETING <br />OR A MINIMUM OF 12 INCHES OF SOIL PLACED BY THE END O1= THE WORKING <br />DAY. IF PLASTIC SHEETING IS USED, IT SHALL BE SECURED BY SANDBAGS OR <br />OTHER MEANS TO KEEP IT IN PLACE. <br />10. A FINAL SOIL CAP OF 3 FEET MINIMUM THICKNESS SHALL BE PLACED OVER THE <br />REFUSE IN THE DISPOSAL AREA. THE MATERIAL FOR THE SOIL CAP SHALL BE LPSB <br />AND NOT CONTAIN LANDFILL REFUSE. THE FINAL SOIL CAP SHALL BE GRADED TO <br />MAINTAIN THE EXISTING SITE DRAINAGE PATTERN AND TO PREVENT PONDING. <br />11. THE FINAL SOIL CAP SHALL BE PLACED IN 1 FOOT THICK LISTS AND COMPACTED <br />TO 95 PERCENT OF MODIFIED PROCTOR. <br />12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL WORKERS AND <br />OTHER PERSONS BY VIGOROUSLY ENFORCING PREVENTIVE MEASURES AGAINST <br />EXPOSURE TO REFUSE HAZARDS.
