awl <br /> EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7700 <br /> A RESOLUTION of the City of Everett adopting the Rethink Housing Action Plan. <br /> WHEREAS, <br /> 1. The Everett Community, along with the rest of the region and many parts of the United States <br /> faces a housing availability and affordability crisis at all economic income levels; and <br /> 2. Local government plays a key role in supporting the production of housing through policy, <br /> regulation, and funding; and <br /> 3. The Everett City Council recognizes the substantial housing need today and in the future; and <br /> 4. The City must also rely on its partners, private, public, and nonprofits,to collaborate on <br /> strategies that will best support housing production; and <br /> 5. Implementation of strategies must include recognition of equity for underserved communities, <br /> communities of color, and marginalized community members; and <br /> 6. The Washington State Department of Commerce provided the City of Everett with a grant to <br /> complete a citywide Housing Action Plan; and <br /> 7. The Rethink Housing Action Plan includes a comprehensive set of actions that cover housing <br /> diversity, urban corridor development, transit-oriented communities, affordable housing, and <br /> displacement; and <br /> 8. The process has included wide-ranging outreach and engagement with the community members <br /> and partners; and <br /> 9. The Rethink Housing Action Plan Committee recommended a Housing Action Plan on June 3, <br /> 2021; and <br /> 10. The Planning Commission adopted Resolution 21-05 in support of the Committee <br /> Recommended Housing Action Plan on August 17, 2021; and <br /> 11. Staff, the Council, and community members have suggested additional revisions to the final <br /> plan, which have been incorporated. <br />
