Appendix B: Community Input Summary Everett Housing Action Plan B-4 <br /> <br />good affordable housing and to promote community connections could be a way to accomplish these <br />goals. <br />The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) – June 22, 2021 <br />Staff and the Chair of the Rethink Housing Action Plan Advisory Committee presented information <br />about the recommended Housing Action Plan. Members were interested and would follow up with City <br />staff. <br />International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 191 – August 11, 2021 <br />Staff and the Chair of the Rethink Housing Action Plan Advisory Committee presented information <br />about the recommended Housing Action Plan. Members felt that it was very important to advance <br />these strategies. Many of the members provide labor to housing projects and know that the needs are <br />significant. Members also expressed a desire to have the Plan reference the City’s Community <br />Workforce commitment ordinance as a labor force supporting housing construction. <br />Everett Rotary – August 24, 2021 <br />Staff and the Chair of the Rethink Housing Action Plan Advisory Committee presented information <br />about the recommended Housing Action Plan. Members agreed this was important work and <br />expressed their concern that the community had concerns or fear around density. A comment was also <br />made regarding the need to have a streamlined permit process. <br /> <br />3. COMMUNITY CHAT SESSIONS – “TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT” <br /> <br />Community CHAT Sessions were held with the public to discuss strategies for Transit-Oriented <br />Development. These sessions were held on February 18th at 1 PM (8 Attendees) and February 23rd at 6 <br />PM (11 Attendees) with relatively low participation. <br />These CHAT Sessions began with a presentation of context and background about TOD. Then participants were <br />asked several poll questions to gauge initial opinions about proposed TOD strategies. The presentation <br />emphasized 5 aspects of the TOD strategy: <br />1. Make connections across the highway barriers, Evergreen Way and in neighborhoods <br />2. Encourage new development on corridor sites <br />3. Allow more housing choices in residential areas <br />4. Protect existing affordable housing resources. <br />5. Provide needed amenities and commercial services. <br /> <br />Then participants were asked several poll questions to gauge initial opinions about proposed TOD <br />strategies. The survey questions asked how participants felt about different aspects of the TOD strategy, which <br />included: 1. Overall corridor growth strategy, 2. Connecting the neighborhoods, 3 Encourage ample building <br />heights along Evergreen Way (5 & 6 Story MF), 4. Allowing corner lot duplexes, , 5 Allowing townhouses in SDF <br />neighborhoods, 6. Allowing courtyard homes in SF neighborhoods, 7. Providing retail and commercial amenities <br />and services, and 8 Protecting affordable housing. . Finally, the first question was repeated to determine if <br />participants’ attitudes changed during the polling process. The polling results are displayed below. <br />
