14 E Casino Road
June 6, 2019, 2019
increasing access to education, economic opportunities and social networks. The proposed
reconfiguration of existing interior spaces allows for the inclusion of vital services, programs and
resources that have been turned away in the past solely due to a lack of space in which to house
them. The proposed design is not only based on the experience gathered from the use of the
current space, but also an extensive community design process that carefully considered all
requirements of the community and the project's program, including the toilet facilities. Requiring
an increase in the number of toilets and/or toilet rooms would provide no tangible benefit to this
underserved community while both incurring further expense and reducing other vital parts of the
project's program — a program that aims to benefit an underserved community on a very limited
budget.
Based on these factors, the on -site empirical evidence of the facility operator, and our
professional judgment and experience, we request that this project be approved with the
proposed toilet facilities, comprised of two existing toilet rooms, one women's and one men's,
and one new fully accessible family toilet room.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Markus Barrera-Kolb
Project Manager
Direct phone — 206.787.1381
