. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. ;70 <br /> AN ORDINANCE calling for a special zlection to fill the <br /> vacancy in the office of Commissioner of Public Finance; <br /> declaring a primary election shall be held on the 13th day of <br /> September, 1960 and that a final and general election shall be <br /> held on the llth day of October, 1960; declaring that all <br /> persons desiring to file declaration for candidacy shall file <br /> their declaration not earlier than the 15th day of July, 1960 <br /> and not later than the 30th day of July, 1960; declaring that if 211 <br /> the 5th day of August, 1960 there are no more than two can- <br /> didates filing for the position of Commissioner of Public <br /> Finance that the primary election shall be dispensed with and <br /> the only election shall be the final election to be held on the <br /> llth day of October, 1960; and declaring an emergency to exist. <br /> WHEREAS, George Culmback, Commissioner of Public Finance <br /> in the City of Everett has passed away and there exists a <br /> vacancy in the office of the Commissioner of Public Finance, <br /> the unexpired terra of which is more than two years, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: A special election, to be declared a <br /> ' primary election, shall be held to fill the vacancy in the office <br /> of Commissioner of Public Finance on the 13th day of September, <br /> 1960 and shall be conducted by the County Auditor es provided <br /> by law. <br /> SECTION 2: A special election, to be declared a final <br /> or general election, shall be held to fill the vacancy in the <br /> office of Commissioner of Public Finance on the llth day of <br /> October, 1960 and shall be conducted by the City Clerk of the <br /> City of Everett. <br /> SECTION 3: In event on the 5th day of August, 1960 no <br /> more than two candidates have filed for the position of <br /> Commissioner of Public Finance the primary election shall not <br /> I be held and there shall be only a final or general election <br /> I held on the llth day of October, 1960, <br /> SECTION 4. All persons desiring to file declaration <br /> of candidacy shall file their declaration of candidacy not <br /> 1 earlier than the 15th day of July, 1960 or later than the 30th <br /> day of July, 1960. Any candidate receiving any majority of <br /> votes cast at such primary election shall have his name alone <br /> placed on the ballot at the final general election to be held <br /> 1 on the llth day of October, 1960. <br /> SECTION 5: An emergency is hereby declared to exist <br /> by reason of the vacancy existing in the office of Commissioner <br /> of Public Finance and by reason of the requirement of the City <br /> Charter requiring an election to fill eaid vacancy. <br /> SECTION 6: This ordinance shall take effect upon its <br /> first reading, passage and publication. <br /> • <br /> / <br /> Attest: Acting Mayor <br /> /t. <br /> i City Clerk <br /> Passed: July 12, 1960 <br /> Published: Jyly 13, 1960 <br />
