f . <br /> 1. <br /> Y (, <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3761 <br /> AN ORDINANCE regulating sewers and regulating con- <br /> nections therewith and the maintenance of private drain pipes <br /> connecting to public sewer; amending Sections 2.20.050 and <br /> 2.20.230 of the Everett City Code. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: That Section 2.20.050 of the Everett City <br /> Code be, and it is hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> 2.20.050 No connections without permit and then only <br /> by licensed contractor. <br /> No person shall connect with or open or penetrate <br /> any public sewer, side sewer or drain for any purpose <br /> whatsoever without first obtaining a permit in writing <br /> from the City Engineer as provided in this chapter, and <br /> no person other than a licensed person as herein provided <br /> shall be granted such permit except as hereinafter <br /> provided. <br /> No person shall extend, repair or alter any side <br /> sewer, lateral or drain beyond the limits for which the <br /> permit has been issued, provided no permit will be <br /> required for the removal of obstructions in a side <br /> sewer line when the same can be removed through a clean- <br /> out installed for that purpose. <br /> A bona fide owner of any building, structure, lot <br /> or parcel of real property may be granted a permit to <br /> alter or repair any side sewer or drain within the <br /> limits of his property line without being licensed, and <br /> may be granted a permit to make initial connection to <br /> side sewer extension from main sewer, provided side <br /> sewer has been extended to property line and provided <br /> further that all work shall be done in accordance with <br /> the provisions of this ordinance. <br /> SECTION 2: That Section 2.20.230 Everett City Code <br /> be, and it is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 2.20.230 Repair of drains. <br /> It shall be the duty of each abutting property <br /> owner to repair and maintain the sewer line and side <br /> sewer line serving his property from the premises <br /> served to the main sewer line of the city. When any <br /> private drain pipe connected with any public sewer or <br /> drain becomes obstructed, broken, or out of order, the <br /> Inspector of Sewers and Plumbing shall, if the owner, <br /> agent or tenant of such premises fails to repair the <br /> same after two days notice so to do, cause such drain <br /> pipe to be removed, reconstructed, repaired, altered <br /> or cleaned out as he may deem expedient, at the expense <br /> of the owner, agent or occupant of such premises as <br /> aforesaid, and shall be a lien against the property as <br /> provided in section 2.20.220 hereof and shall be <br /> collected in the manner provided in section 2.20.220 <br /> of this chapter. <br /> ..--- -.---74— <br /> MAYOR C _ <br /> Atte <br /> � t: <br /> / <br /> „/..-1. 27,„4:-4.;-3 <br /> City lerk <br /> Passed: May 24, 1960 <br /> Published: " 25, 1960 <br />
