These new units will be located in <br /> existing mechanical rooms, and based on existing building drawings the floor framing for <br /> these mechanical rooms was designed for a live load of 75 PSF. DCI Engineers performed <br /> calculations of the existing floor framing and found that in the three mechanical rooms where <br /> the EVR-1, EVR-2 and EVR-3 units will be located the allowable uniform mechanical loading <br /> was a minimum of 75 PSF. See attached calculations. <br /> Two new large replacement mechanical units are planned for the two main existing 2nd floor <br /> mechanical rooms. These units are named EVR-1 and EVR-2. <br /> EVR-1 has a weight of 8,352 pounds with plan dimensions of roughly 6'x 16'.This creates a <br /> uniform loading to the floor of 87 PSF. But with sleepers added to increase the length of the <br /> unit to 19'the uniform loading is 73 PSF. See attached calculations. <br /> EVR-2 has a weight of 11,328 pounds with plan dimensions of roughly 7'-8"x 17'. This <br /> creates a uniform loading to the floor joists of 87 PSF. The existing floor joists and beams in <br /> this area were checked and found to be capable of supporting an 87 PSF mechanical load. <br /> See attached calculations. <br /> Based on our review,the proposed EVR-1 and EVR-2 can be installed without any retrofit to <br /> the existing structure. <br /> The new unit connections and sleeper requirements are shown in SSK-01 and SSK-02, <br /> attached. <br /> Other small equipment and ducting will also be added. These items are less than 150 <br /> pounds, so no specific design checks have been performed by DCI Engineers. Another unit, <br /> labeled as EVR-3 will be installed in a mechanical loft located between grids 6.7 and 8. The <br /> EVR-3 has a weight of 268 pounds with a footprint of 5'-6"x 4'-9"for a distributed load of <br /> 10.25 PSF which is much less than the allowed 75 PSF floor design load.
